1MT Nation is an Estonian climate technology company that develops high-quality, nature-based carbon removal projects in East Africa. The company restores degraded and idle lands in Uganda and Kenya by planting polyculture bamboo species, which sequester carbon dioxide and generate voluntary carbon credits. In June 2023, the startup secured a 1 million EUR equity investment to scale its operations. This transaction was backed by Estonian industrial forestry producer Warmeston OÜ and forestry sector investor Margus Kohava. The company is also supported by the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators network.
