Adsorbi is a Swedish cleantech startup developing bio-based materials made from Nordic cellulose to capture gaseous air pollutants and odors, offering a sustainable alternative to activated carbon. The company spun out of Chalmers University of Technology research and recently launched its first pilot plant with 140 tonnes annual capacity. They've raised €1 million in 2025 and €360,000 in seed funding in 2023, with products already sold in six countries including partnerships with Icebug and Smellwell for shoe deodorizing. Their cellulose-based material targets the multi-billion-dollar gaseous pollution removal market and generates 50% lower CO2 emissions than activated carbon while offering longer lifespan and no VOC re-release.
