AlterEco Pulp is a Rome-based startup that develops cellulosic fiber molding technology to create eco-sustainable packaging from agricultural by-products like bamboo, hemp, sugarcane bagasse, and wheat straw. The company is one of the first in Europe to develop this technology as an alternative to plastic and traditional paper packaging. In August 2025, they raised €3.5 million in a seed round led by Eureka! Fund, with participation from Azimut Libera Impresa and Open Venture. The company aims to reduce deforestation and CO2 emissions while providing compostable and recyclable packaging solutions across sectors including food service, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and perfumery.
