Altris is a Swedish sodium-ion battery technology company that develops sustainable cathode materials using patented Prussian White technology. Founded in 2017 by researchers from Uppsala University, the company manufactures the Fennac® cathode material for sodium-ion batteries that offer energy density comparable to lithium iron phosphate while using abundant, non-toxic raw materials without cobalt, nickel, or copper. Altris has raised €13.2 million in Series B1 funding in October 2024 from strategic investors including Clarios and Maersk Growth, bringing their total funding to over €27 million. The company achieved a commercial breakthrough with sodium-ion battery cells delivering 160 Wh/kg energy density and targets applications in grid storage, low-voltage vehicles, and maritime sectors.
