Black Semiconductor develops integrated graphene photonics technology to connect microchips with light. By substituting traditional copper connections with graphene on a single wafer, the company builds high-speed, energy-efficient networks that circumvent the physical limitations of standard silicon chips. The Aachen-based startup has secured a combined Series A of 254.4 million euros, comprising 25.7 million euros in equity and 228.7 million euros in public grants from German federal and state governments under the IPCEI program. This massive capitalization supports their mission to industrialize graphene-based chip manufacturing.
