Blykalla is developing the SEALER, a lead-cooled small modular reactor (SMR) designed to provide 55 MWe of clean baseload power for industrial applications. Founded in 2013 as a spin-off from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, the company has raised $50 million in December 2025 to accelerate commercialization, with backing from Oklo, Norrsken Launcher, and Armada Investment. The company aims to deploy its first demonstration reactor SEALER-One by 2029 and plans to construct 1,000 SMRs by 2050 to deliver 500 TWh of clean energy annually. The lead-cooled design offers enhanced safety features with a 1700°C boiling temperature and passively safe operation, positioning Blykalla as Sweden's only SMR vendor working to deliver Europe's first advanced SMR.
