Carbo Culture is a Finnish climate technology company that has developed proprietary biochar carbon removal technology using their patented Carbolysis™ process. The company converts waste biomass into stable biochar at ultra-high temperatures, permanently storing carbon for over 1,000 years while generating renewable energy. They recently opened one of Europe's largest carbon removal facilities near Helsinki with capacity to remove 3,000 tons of CO2 annually and raised $18 million in Series A funding in 2023. The startup aims to remove one billion tons of carbon from the atmosphere by 2030 and has received significant grant funding from the European Innovation Council and other agencies.
