Cellfion develops PFAS-free, bio-based membranes made from cellulose derived from wood for energy storage and conversion devices including redox flow batteries, fuel cells, and hydrogen production systems. The Swedish deep-tech startup spun out from over a decade of research at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Linköping University, and RISE. The company has raised over SEK 70 million including €2.5 million from the European Commission's EIC program and SEK 30 million from the Swedish Energy Agency. They've moved to an 800 m² pilot production facility and are collaborating with universities on advanced membrane development while working toward commercial validation.
