The Centre for Effective Altruism is an Oxford-based organization that builds and supports the global effective altruism community, promoting evidence-based approaches to doing the most good. Founded in 2012 by philosophers William MacAskill and Toby Ord, CEA operates as part of Effective Ventures and coined the term 'effective altruism.' The organization runs EA Global conferences, supports hundreds of local EA groups worldwide, operates the EA Forum, and manages EA Funds which has distributed millions in grants.
