Series A · Hardware & Semiconductors · Hamburg, Germany · Founded 2020 · 100–150 employees

eleQtron is Germany's first quantum computing hardware startup, founded in 2020 as a spin-off from the Quantum Optics Chair at the University of Siegen. The company develops and operates trapped-ion quantum computers using its proprietary MAGIC (Magnetic Gradient Induced Coupling) technology, which controls qubits via miniaturised microwave signals rather than complex laser systems — enabling a more scalable, engineering-driven path to commercial quantum hardware. In May 2026, eleQtron closed a €57 million Series A round led by Schwarz Digits, one of the largest Series A raises in quantum computing globally, with participation from the EIC Fund, Earlybird, Ankaa Ventures, Precitec, NRW.BANK, and IFB Hamburg. The company already holds an order backlog exceeding €60 million, with quantum computers delivered to the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Jülich Supercomputing Centre, placing it among the very few quantum players with meaningful commercial traction.
