Gama is a French NewSpace company developing low-cost, reliable, and scalable solar sails for deep space exploration and satellite mobility, using photon pressure as a propellant-free propulsion method. The company also produces Astrobrake dragsails — self-contained deorbit modules that help satellites comply with end-of-life regulations. In 2022, Gama secured €2 million in funding from Bpifrance, CNES, and international angel investors, and successfully launched and deployed a 73.3 m² solar sail at 550 km altitude aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9. Gama is backed by a broad investor base including Possible Ventures, EWOR, Pareto Holdings, and CNES, and is collaborating with the German space agency DLR for its next mission, Gama Beta.
