Helrom developed patented freight wagon technology enabling barrier-free loading of truck trailers onto rail without expensive terminals or cranes. The company operates five intermodal routes between Germany, Austria, Hungary and Italy, helping decarbonize supply chains by shifting freight from road to rail. Despite filing for insolvency in July 2025 due to a short-term liquidity shortage, operations continued largely unaffected and the company completed restructuring in January 2026 with new majority shareholder HRG and backing from Greenbrier, DAL, and Société Générale. Revenue grew from €22M in 2024 to €47M in 2025.
