ispace-EUROPE is the Luxembourg-based subsidiary of ispace, inc., a publicly listed global lunar exploration company (Tokyo: 9348), focused on developing lunar rovers — including the TENACIOUS Micro Rover, the first lunar rover ever designed, manufactured, and assembled in Europe. The company made history in January 2025 by securing the first-ever mission authorization under Luxembourg's 2017 Space Resources Law, enabling the commercial utilization of space resources. ispace-EUROPE leads the MAGPIE ESA mission — a lunar rover mission targeting the Moon's south polar region to prospect for water ice — and was awarded an ESA Phase 1 development contract in June 2025. The Luxembourg facility houses an engineering design centre, manufacturing lab, lunar analog facility, and a mission control room, positioning it as a cornerstone of Europe's nascent lunar economy. ispace group has cumulatively raised approximately $490M USD including a $62M loan from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Mizuho Bank in 2024.
