Kasqade is a Ghent-based video AI startup that adds an intelligent layer on top of existing factory cameras to give small and mid-sized manufacturing companies real-time visibility into their production operations. Founded in late 2025 by Kasper De Smaele (ex-Airbus, ex-Robovision) and Bart Van Miegem (ex-Metamaze), the company officially launched its product in June 2026 — just six months after inception — and already counts paying customers. It raised €600,000 in a pre-seed round from 4 business angels and the Start it Fund (a KBC initiative), making Kasqade the fund's very first investment. The startup targets the roughly half a million small and mid-sized manufacturers across Europe and North America that currently lack affordable real-time production intelligence.
