Loki Foods was an Icelandic food technology startup that developed realistic, nutritious, and sustainable plant-based alternative seafood products, notably its flagship "Loki Fillet" designed to mimic North Atlantic cod. Formulating its products with 100% renewable geothermal energy and pristine Icelandic water, the company aimed to eliminate issues like microplastics and heavy metals from the seafood supply chain. In August 2022, the startup announced a pre-seed round of $650,000 USD from investors including Sustainable Food Ventures and VegInvest. Despite its novel approach and inclusion in the Big Idea Ventures accelerator, the company ceased operations and was declared bankrupt in February 2026.
