Mycorena was a Swedish biotech company founded in 2017 that developed innovative fungi fermentation technology to produce Promyc, a sustainable mycoprotein ingredient. The company became one of the fastest-growing foodtech startups in Europe, raising €35 million including a record-breaking €24 million Series A round for Nordic alternative proteins. After filing for bankruptcy in July 2024, Mycorena was acquired by Belgian biomass fermentation company Naplasol in August 2024. The acquisition allows Mycorena's technology to continue under the VEOS Group's industrial expertise, with production now based in Belgium.
