Norsjór develops advanced laser technology for sustainable biofouling removal on ship hulls, addressing a critical maritime industry problem that causes increased fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The Norwegian startup has been recognized as one of the world's ten most prominent biofouling innovators by the World Ocean Council and The Ocean Opportunity Lab. They received NOK 900,000 in funding from Innovation Norway's Stud-ENT program and were selected for the prestigious Equinor & Techstars Energy Accelerator. The company won the Sustainable Business Idea Competition 2022 and is developing their hull cleaning robot 'Luke Hullwalker' with pilot tests planned for 2024.
