Porotech is a University of Cambridge spin-out that has pioneered porous gallium nitride (PoroGaN) semiconductor materials, enabling all three primary colors (red, green, blue) to be produced from a single InGaN material system. This breakthrough solves a key manufacturing bottleneck in micro-LED displays by eliminating the need to mix multiple material systems, making full-color micro-LED displays commercially viable for AR/VR applications. The company has secured partnerships with major players like Foxconn, Samsung, Amazon, and Microsoft, with 90% of revenue coming from exports.
