Series A · Biotech · Uppsala, Sweden · Founded 2021 · 20–25 employees

Rarity Bioscience develops superRCA technology, an ultra-sensitive multiplex assay platform for detecting rare DNA mutations in liquid biopsies and tissue samples with sensitivity down to 1 mutation in 100,000 wild-types. The Uppsala University spin-out was founded in 2021 by Dr. Lei Chen and Professor Ulf Landegren, commercializing breakthrough research from the Department of Immunology, Genetics, and Pathology. The company recently raised €6.5 million in Series A funding led by Navigare Ventures in June 2024, enabling applications in cancer diagnostics, minimal residual disease monitoring, and precision medicine. Their technology platform uses flow cytometry readouts, making it compatible with existing laboratory infrastructure.
