Rega Energy develops, finances, builds, owns and operates biomethane and green hydrogen plants to help decarbonize hard-to-abate industries like cement, steel, glass, and ceramics that cannot easily electrify. Founded in 2021 by Thomas Carrier, the company has raised €77 million (€60M in 2024, €17M in 2022) from SWEN Capital Partners to scale industrial decarbonization solutions. They operate the Nazaré Green Hydrogen Valley project concentrating over 10% of Portugal's industrial CO2 emissions and plan to invest an additional €500M in renewable energy infrastructure over 24 months. The company provides long-term renewable gas purchase agreements and direct delivery to industrial customers as alternatives to imported fossil fuels.
