Robeauté is a Paris-based medtech startup developing a self-propelled neurosurgical microrobot just 1.8 mm long — roughly the size of a grain of rice — that can navigate curved, non-linear paths through the brain's extracellular matrix to perform biopsies, deliver drugs, and implant electrodes. Unlike conventional rigid probes limited to straight-line access, the modular platform uses an interchangeable extension system and real-time ultrasound tracking, enabling unprecedented multi-site access within the brain from a single entry point. Founded in 2017 by robotics veteran Bertrand Duplat and operations specialist Joana Cartocci, the company has filed over 50 patents and completed successful animal trials. In January 2025, Robeauté closed a $28 million (≈€27.2M) Series A round led by Plural, Cherry Ventures, and Kindred Ventures, with strategic investment from Brainlab, targeting first-in-human trials in 2026 and a US market entry.
