Saltfoss Energy (formerly Seaborg Technologies, rebranded April 2025) is a Copenhagen-based deep-tech startup developing the Compact Molten Salt Reactor (CMSR), a next-generation small modular reactor designed for deployment on modular floating power barges. Founded by physicists with roots at the Niels Bohr Institute, CERN, and DTU, the company targets safe, affordable, and low-emission nuclear energy at massive scale. It has raised a total of $57.6M from 12+ investors including the European Innovation Council, Heartland, and Francis Family Fund, and secured an 8-digit euro private funding round to accelerate deployment. The company has formed major industrial partnerships with Samsung Heavy Industries, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), KEPCO Nuclear Fuel, and GS E&C, and aims to deliver its first floating nuclear power plant in the first half of the 2030s.
