Shelfion is a Belgian foodtech startup that develops advanced testing and predictive software to help food producers determine and optimize product shelf life — reducing a 6–12 month testing process to minutes. Founded in November 2023 by food scientists Devlieghere and Begyn alongside CEO Wendy Ossieur, the company uses patent-pending test kits and predictive models to address the ~40% of food waste attributable to shelf-life issues. Shelfion has gained traction with national and international food corporates and is currently raising a €3M Seed round to accelerate growth. The company is backed by Rockstart and biotope by VIB, and was formerly known as I-Challenge.
