Vitrealab is an Austrian deeptech photonics startup that develops advanced laser-based light engines and Photonic Integrated Circuits for augmented reality and virtual reality display systems. Spun out of the Quantum Group at the University of Vienna, the company manufactures its proprietary Quantum Light Chip to resolve physical brightness and power bottlenecks in near-eye displays. The technology integrates light-shaping and beam-guiding functions directly onto a glass-based platform to deliver ultra-bright, collimated, and energy-efficient illumination. The company secured an eleven million dollar Series A funding round in January 2026 to scale its operations. This capital injection was led by LIFTT Italian Venture Capital alongside several deeptech and venture funds.
